Evaluation Task 4 - How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages

In the planning and filming of our trailer we used many different media technologies to ensure that we were able to complete everything that we planned on doing. For example we used a video camera, a tripod, an apple mac, final cut pro, iPhones, Blogger, Youtube and Google. These are all just examples of the different technologies that we have used. 

The camera that we used to film our trailer was the Panasonic HDC - SD80. When filming with this camera we zoomed in and out when filming to help to take certain shots such as close ups and extreme close up. With this camera we also used a tripod to help maintain steady shot, for example we used a few tracking shots in our trailer. By using the tripod it allowed us to keep the camera still and the shot clear.

This is the tripod in which we used to help maintain our steady shot.  The tripod was a very good piece of equipment to use, it folds up and is very easy to get around with.

This is the Apple Mac that we used when editing our trailer, a very modern and up to date piece of technology that has software installed on to it that has allowed me to edit my trailer in a lot of depth and detail.

Final cut pro is again a very modern and up to date programme. This is the editing software that I have used when editing my trailer, it has allowed me to be able to do things such as add in transitions, cut down scenes and also adding in music and voiceovers. The software is very quick and also very easy to get the hang of which meant that I found it quite easy to use when editing my trailer.

Another piece of technology that I used when planning and filming my film trailer was an Apple iPhone, we used iPhones to take some of our pictures when filming, this was to show example of the different technologies that we used. We also used iPhones to communicate with our group and the actors that we asked to be in our film, this was done through iMessage which is a messaging service that was created and used on all apple products.

Blogger is a website that was created to allow people to be able to write, create and publish their own views/pages. It is an open website that allows people from all over the world to be able to view each others work. For my A2 work I have used blogger to show examples of my own research in to other films within the genre and also to show any changes that I have made to the different parts of my trailer.

Youtube is a website that allows users to upload and share their own videos with the world, it is a free service so anybody can use it. There are many different categories such as music videos, sports videos, film trailers etc. When creating my own trailer I used youtube to watch other teenage angst film trailers such as Easy A and Mean Girls. By doing this it allowed me to see what each of the trailers included and what the conventions of each of them were. I also uploaded my own final product to youtube, which then allowed me to upload it to my own blog page.

Google is a the most popular search engine on the web. It can be used to find out all sorts of information and is very quick and simple to use, you can search the web, search for images or even use it for watching videos. When creating my own trailer I used google to search for images to look at, for example looking at the outfits of characters during other teenage angst films, this helped me to get an idea of what my characters should wear if I wanted my film to fit in with the genre correctly.
